Individually, we are the Copper Hills and West Jordan High School Orchestras. To break that down further, each school has an open enrollment concert orchestra and an auditioned chamber orchestra, and if you look at us on the surface we seem to be like any other high school music entity, a bunch of music geeks running around being teenage musicians, doing our thing.
However, this group of teenage musicians is unique.
Why?
This group of musicians may come from TWO different schools, but we have ONE purpose, that is to make the best music possible and we make it by practicing, performing, and having fun TOGETHER! There is no rivalry here. The chamber orchestra performs as a single unit. We rehearse together each Friday morning at 6 a.m. and we love the great strength that comes from being a large, in charge, string ensemble!
West Jordan and Copper Hills High Schools are both located in the Southwest part of the Salt Lake Valley in West Jordan, Utah. West Jordan High opened in 1981 and Copper Hills High opened in 1995. These two schools house some of the best students around. Our string ensembles are part of two well rounded, high quality, fine arts programs that are hosted in each of these schools.
